About me…

I am a Principal Teaching Fellow in the School of Health and Social Care and Director of Teaching and Learning for the Faculty of Health, Life and Social Sciences at the University of Lincoln. I teach on the undergraduate programmes in the school, with a particular interest in the development and facilitation of learning through open, distance part-time learning and using technology to aid learning. In my role as Principal Teaching Fellow, I also support the work of the University of Lincoln’s Centre for Educational Research and Development (CERD) and in my capacity as Director of Teaching and Learning for the Faculty I undertake a range of Faculty level responsibilities including chairing the Faculty Teaching and Learning Committee and representing the Faculty on various University-level committees.
I have experience of working in other European countries in areas related both to teaching and learning; and research in health and social care. Prior to joining the University of Lincoln, I worked for and studied myself with the Open University, supporting and enabling the learning of undergraduate distance-learning students. I also gained substantial practice experience in both health and social care, as a practitioner and manager. This experience spanned statutory, voluntary and private sector and included general nursing, social work, policy development and the management of both adult and children’s care management services.
I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a registered Social Worker. I am also a member of the Academic Board of the University of Lincoln, representing academics across the University.
About these web pages…
I have established these as a quick way of providing my colleagues, research collaborators and students, both current and future, with up-to-date information about my professional experiences and interests.
I am continually developing, adding to and up-dating these web pages, so would be very pleased to receive your feedback and thoughts about how I can improve them - please use the ‘Visitors’ page’ to leave me your thoughts. On the various pages of this web site you will find information about research I have completed, my teaching experiences and values, my publications and current research activity; also on these web pages, where feasible I have shown the two aspects of my work separately, that which is related to educational research and teaching, and that which is related to health and social care. Of course, the reality of day-to-day practice is that I am engaged in both of these areas of work simultaneously.
Finally, for a bit of fun and because life really isn’t all about work, I have included a page about the ‘other side of my life’ - the bit that really matters
I hope you find these web pages of interest and look forward to reading your comments on my visitor’s page.
