My research interests span both Health and Social Care subject-related research and pedagogic-related research. Principally I am interested in using qualitative, narrative approaches to further understanding of the experience of life trajectories. I also have experience in evaluative research. Further to this, I have become very interested in the theory of critical realism and its methodological implications for social science research.

With regard to pedagogic-related research, my interest is not only directly about teaching and learning in higher education, but also more specifically about the academic practices that underpin teaching and learning in higher education. My doctoral research explored influences on the behaviour and attitudes of academics, in respect of CPD in Higher Education, taking a critical realist approach.
